With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, our beloved mother, Salvacion (Sally) Bautista, peacefully passed away Friday morning of January 31, 2025. She was surrounded by love and by her family during her passing. She was 75 years old.
Sally was born in Manila, Philippines. She attended and graduated from a Catholic preparatory school, Dominican College. She went on to attend University of Santo Tomas (UST) where she graduated in 1970 and earned her baccalaureate degree in nursing. While attending UST’s college of nursing, she met the love of her life, who became her husband, our dad, Fernando Bautista who also attended UST’s nursing school at the same time.
She emigrated to the United States in 1983 with her three children and continued her career in nursing as an icu nurse, but she found her true calling as a labor and delivery nurse where delivering life gave her a fulfilling role. She retired from nursing at the age of 57 years old.
After her retirement, she led an active life. She took trips back home to Manila to visit her family. She took pride in being a grandmother to her five grandchildren. Sally loved spending time with her family. She loved hearing and telling stories from her children and grandchildren. She had a sense of humor and loves a good laugh. She enjoyed hosting parties at her house, especially the annual Christmas Eve party for the Bautista clan. Besides her family, she had close connections and loved spending time with her nursing college friends and former coworkers. She enjoyed gardening. She would start her day each morning with a prayer.
Sally is survived by her husband Fernando Bautista, her three children Stephen (Ritchell) Bautista, Ferdinand (Michelin) Bautista, and Pia (Manuel) Bautista. She has five grandchildren Christian, Kai Jaden, Avery, Isabella, and Gavin. Sally has a big extended family and many friends.
Our mom will dearly be missed. Her smiles brought warmth to anyone and everyone around her. We find comfort in knowing our mom’s legacy lives on through the lessons she taught us, the love she shared with us and fond memories of her we will cherish forever.
