Timothy John Nguyen was born on January 19th, 2006, in San Diego, California at the Sharp Mary Birch Hospital. He passed away on October 5th, 2010, at 4 years old, after a courageous battle with an inoperable brain tumor. Timothy lived a full life. He attended preschool at the Eastlake Children’s Center for two years, made his own friends, ran and played with his big brother, went to Disney World, on a Disney Cruise, and countless other amusement parks. In the short time he was here, he did things other kids could only imagine, including swimming with dolphins.
Timothy was a sweet, easy going, loving boy, who was easy to please and wanted to be surrounded with smiling faces and happiness. He didn’t like anyone mad or sad, and would try to make others laugh when they needed it the most. He liked to be clean and wouldn’t step on carpet with his dirty shoes. Some of his favorite objects to hold and bring with him everywhere were his blanket, Thomas the Tank Engine train, and Lighting McQueen car.
Timothy was diagnosed with a diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, on January 12th, 2010, just before his 4th birthday. He underwent daily oral chemotheraphy and 29 radiation treatments. He passed away on October 5, 2010, after a courageous battle that was fought with grace and tremendous spirit. Timothy was the beloved son of John and Tricia Nguyen of San Diego, and the loving baby brother of Justin Nguyen.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 15th at 11 a.m. at Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala Catholic Church, 10818 San Diego Mission Road, San Diego, CA 92108. Inspired by the Disney-Pixar movie Up, a beautiful balloon release followed the Mass.
