Veronica, or Roni as she preferred, was a beautiful person and will be greatly missed as a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Roni is survived by her husband Steve, her sons, Marc, Gilbert, Dave, Nick, and her grandchildren, Lucas, Natalie, Aidan, Hunter, Owen, Ellie, Ryan and Ava.
Roni was the third born child in a family of 5 kids, David, Vivian, Veronica, Valerie and Vicki, her Mother Andrea and Father Gilbert. She was baptized into the LDS church at the age of 15. She has always kept the Blessings and Ordinances received very close to her heart. Roni and her husband Steve were Sealed on April 22, 2006 at the San Diego Temple.
From an early age Roni always had a desire to help people. She always stuck up for the underdog. So, it’s not surprising that later in life she would gravitate towards a career where she could directly help people. That is why she began training to become a nurse, and in January of 1998 at the age of 40 she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She specialized in working with the mentally challenged. Roni enjoyed many years at this career before retiring in 2015.
Roni was always a huge animal lover. There was never a time that our house wasn’t filled with animals of one sort or another. Veronica even spent a few years volunteering as a foster mom for animals transitioning into their forever homes.
Roni had a genuine thirst for knowledge. This can be seen from the extensive subjects contained in her library of books. And even though she had retired from nursing, she always wanted to learn more about the medical field so every year she completed the required units of study, not only to continue learning but she also maintained her license, “just in case” she’d say.
Roni will forever be in our hearts and deeply missed.
