Kevin was born November 2, 1955 at the William Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso, Texas. He was the third child and first son to Felix Ernest Hart Jr. and Lois Will Johnson and brother to Laurie Stuart Hart and Linda Beth Hart. He was a beautiful baby with beach blonde hair and an easy smile.
In Kevin's first few years, the family lived in White Sands, New Mexico, Oxen Hill, Maryland and Richmond, Virginia. At the age of 3, Kevin and his family moved to the Paradise Hills home in which his mom still lives today. Kevin attended Lee Elementary and Bell Junior High and was a member of the Class of 1973 at Morse High School. His primary years were filled with playing sports and making lifelong friendships. He was a counselor at an aquatics camp on Catalina Island during the summers, loved to play street hockey and was a swimmer at Morse.
Upon graduating from Morse, Kevin attended Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. He said that his favorite memories from his time there were seeing Bruce Springsteen in the school's gym, socializing on fraternity row and making his way down to the all women's Longwood College a few miles away.
Kevin returned to San Diego and became a member of the Local 230 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He married and had two beautiful children, Kyle and Kara, of whom he was most proud. He continued to enjoy and participate in sports. He played softball as part of many teams, his favorite being with the "Hills Brothers", completed a half marathon and became an accomplished snow skier.
He developed a love for NASCAR, was a Charger season ticket holder, and was most comfortable at home with sports on the TV and his music of choice playing. He played rotisserie baseball under the team name "Special K", a tribute to the first letter of the first name of himself, wife Kimra and children Kara and Kyle. Kevin even drafted his son Kyle who was elementary school age at the time.
Throughout adulthood, Kevin continued to make new friends and remained close to friends from his early days. The "Special K Crew" could often be found enjoying each other's company around Kevin's mom's kitchen table, playing washers or horseshoes in the backyard or attending sporting events.
Kevin also remained very close to his family. His mom was the centerpiece of his social life, and he very much enjoyed time spent with her, his sister Linda, step father JC West and other family. He enjoyed trips to Virginia to see cousins and was quite proud of his southern heritage.
Kevin fought a valiant battle with ALS. During his illness, his continued humor, faith, humility and genuine appreciation for those around him were a source of strength for all that knew him. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and was strengthened by the Lord.
