Wilma S. Soriano

On December 11, 1974, in Bremerton, WA, Wilma Serrano Soriano was born to the delight of her parents and her older sister Irene. She soon moved to Honolulu, HI, Pacific Beach, WA, and eventually San Diego, CA. It was there where Wilma would grow up and see the birth of her younger sister, Josephine. As her family grew and flourished, so did Wilma: she was thoughtful, generous, and loving to her parents, her sisters, her family and friends.

Wilma eventually took those qualities into adulthood and her career. After graduating Morse High School and the University of California Irvine, she earned her Master’s Degree from National University and achieved her License as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Throughout her career she provided care and emotional support to children, adults, and families. Wilma cared for the most vulnerable and needy including youth in residential group homes and adults who were challenged by homelessness and mental illness. Everyone who met her was touched by her kindness, and was a kinder person as a result. Wilma also enjoyed traveling around the world, learning about other cultures, and adored the pleasures of birthday dinners and having tea with her close friends.

In January of 2011, Wilma was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, and that began a challenging 7-year journey, which reached its fateful conclusion on June 24, 2018. Wilma is survived by her parents, Isagani and Erlinda Soriano, her sisters Irene Soriano Hulings and Josephine Soriano, her brother-in-law Alberto Hulings, and her nephew Francisco Hulings.

Wilma loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was always thoughtful and considerate of others. We are heartbroken that she is not longer with us. Wilma will be greatly missed.

Services for Wilma

Visitation and Vigil will be at St. Michael Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 5:30-9:00pm. Please Do Not arrive prior to 5:30 as there is another service before our Visitation. Thank you.

Funeral mass will be at St. Michael Catholic Church on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 10:00am.
