Winona Leilani Kaninau, age 89, of San Diego, California passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021. Winona was born May 24, 1932 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is survived by her daughter Rhona Mapuana Kaninau, and grandchildren Leilani, Puanani, and Kaipo, as well as four beautiful great-grandchildren, Lance, Lucas, Uriah, and Kalena Noelani.
Winona touched so many lives with her love, kindness, and friendship. Winona taught all of us the true meaning of Aloha. The way she gave selflessly, welcomed us with her warm smile and open arms, and made us laugh and smile. She was truly an angel here on earth.
Although Winona will be missed dearly by so many friends and family, we can rest on God's assurance, that she is in Heaven, watching over us, with her true love, Hiram 'Duke' Kaninau, her beloved children Patti and Sonny, along with the rest of her Ohana who have been waiting for her. What a sweet reunion it is!
