Yolanda (Yoly) Espina Llavore, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and matriarch of the Llavore family, went home to the Lord on Feb. 16, 2026, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Born on Nov. 5, 1937, in Fabrica, Negros Occidental, Philippines, Yoly was the third child – and only daughter – of Fulgenicio Regner Espina and Gracia Lopez Espina. She had two older brothers – Rolando and Dorteo – and four younger brothers – Humberto, Graciano, Oscar and Rene. Of the siblings, only Humberto remains. Yoly attended Faron Institute, completing the program to be a pharmacy technician.
After an eight-year courtship, she married Anacleto (Clet) Llavore on Feb. 14, 1960, in Fabrica, and the couple moved to Washington, D.C., where Clet was assigned as a sailor in the U.S. Navy. Their eldest son, Alan, and daughter, Helen, were born there, followed by Dennis after Clet was assigned to Norfolk, Va.
Yoly took a job as a pharmacy technician at St. Vincent DePaul Hospital after Dennis was born, beginning a career in healthcare that lasted until her retirement in 1987. In 1969, the Navy assigned Clet to Naval Air Station North Island, and the family moved to San Diego, Calif. Yoly became active at St. Michael Catholic Church, serving in various ministries, and making lifelong friends along the way. When Clet passed away in 2003, they were a source of great support to Yoly and the family.
She is survived by her children, Alan (Heidy), Helen (Reggie) and Dennis (Mayra), ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
