Zenaida del Rosario Villaflor was born to Marcosa de Guzman and Alberto del Rosario on April 15, 1940 in Manila Philippines. She was born to very poor but hardworking parents, especially her mother Marcosa. At the very early age of 10, she was a smart business woman, out selling sweet potatoes in order to earn money. During college, she worked as a butchers assistant in the mornings and went straight to the University of the East, where she would earn her Bachelors Degree. She was then accepted at De Ocampo School of Nursing. It was especially hard for her parents to assist her with test money and many sacrifices had to made by all to achieve her goal. My mom always said she was destined to become a Registered Nurse. After all is said and done, she gave over 46 years of nursing service to the community, most of that between UCSD and Alvarado hospitals. In 1963 she was married and had three children, Anthony, James, and Christine. Zeny was so proud of all three of her children and she loved them very much. Her children were her source of strength and gave her the strength to face all the ups and downs life throws in ones path, Zeny semi- retired in 1994 and again in 2007. She was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2010 and started dialysis in 2013. Zeny developed heart complications and although she fought hard the last few years, finally joined the kingdom of heaven on Valentines Day 2016. We truly believe that If there was any day for Zenaida Villaflor to pass,it would have to be Valentines Day, because she had the most generous and biggest heart! She loved everybody and everybody loved her. Zenaida, you will truly be missed.....
