Herman Leroy Whiteman Jr., age 83, of Bonita Spgs, Florida passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Herman L. Whiteman Jr.'s passing on Monday, June 9, 2025, in Bonita Springs, Florida. Herman, born on June 18, 1941, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, lived a life marked by dedication to his family, country, and community.

Herman is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia Lee Whiteman; his son, Christopher Whiteman (Heather); his daughter, Brandice Simpson (Michael); his cherished grandsons, Sam, Jack, and Peter; his sisters Beverly Van Horn (Pete) and Linda Spitko (John); and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman L. and Marion Whiteman.

Herman proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. His distinguished career involved family transfers until they eventually settled in Villanova, Pennsylvania. His stations included San Diego and Monterey, California; Subic Bay, Philippines; Washington D.C.; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After his esteemed military career, Herman held executive positions with Seacor in Philadelphia, and eventually retired as the IT Director for Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University, where he was a member of the Delta Phi fraternity, and completed his graduate work at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, where he earned his master's degree in electrical engineering.

Herman had a deep love for golfing with his buddies at the Pelican Nest Golf Club in Bonita Springs, and for his Philadelphia Eagles. After his retirement, he and Ginny traveled extensively, although it was his close friends and family that meant the world to him.
