Amber Elizabeth Grace Peeks, 13, of Booneville on Sunday, July 14, 2013 beneath a double rainbow, surrounded by her loving family, was ushered on angel wings. Meeting her there were her fellow St. Jude friends, Keely Imel, Tyler Bartlett, Stella Wornament and Caroline Turns.
Diagnosed with Rhabdomyoscoma, a rare form of childhood cancer on August 24, 2007, Amber fought bravely, with grace and dignity. She lived by her favorit Bible verse, Phil 4:13, “I can do all things thru Christ which strengthens me”. Amber always found the good in people and encouraged others to do the same. She inspired many people to grow closer to God and to lean on Him in trials and trouble. Amber lived the life she preached and even through her death, will give life to other children battling cancer by allowing research of her tumor after her death.
She was an honor student all through school and was most proud of being inducted into the National Junior Honor Society this year. She was chosen as student of the month on several occasions. She was active in Girl Scouts. She took pride in being a Junior Varsity Cheerleader for the Booneville Middle School.
Regardless of how she felt, she never missed a practice or game. She received the Dare Award for the most courageous student of the school year. Her greatest activity was attending Booneville Church of Christ, where she was baptized December 2010. She was active in Lads to Leader with the puppet ministry. She loved her dog, Taco who spent many days at her side as her health failed.
She will always be remembered for accepting her illness and never giving up. Always saying “No matter what, God will take care of me. Don’t be sad when I’m gone. I’m at peace with Jesus”.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Booneville High School Gymnasium with Minister Greg Pollock and Bro. Lamar Walker officiating.
She is survived by her parents, Angie (Chip) Worley and Jerry Peeks both of Booneville; her grandparents, Jerry & Marjorie Hester of Booneville and Frank & Pat Prather of Selmer, TN; one sister, Katyann Faith Worley of the home; two brothers, Jay Haynes and Jacob Worley both of the home; Her God Mother, Tami Berrios of Booneville.
