Doreene Elder, 94, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018, at The Landmark in Booneville. She was born in Wheeler on February 26, 1924, to Hardin Penn and Maude Faye Michael Elder. She was a lifelong member of Wheeler United Methodist Church. She graduated from Sunflower Jr. College in 1943. She retired as a Vice-President from Peoples Bank and Trust Company after 46 years of service.
She served as a youth counselor at Wheeler United Methodist Church for many years, and on many committees, both local and district. Four ministers came from the youth group. She was a charter member of Business and Professional Club of Booneville, and former member of Association of Bank Women. She enjoyed playing golf, cross-stitching, cooking, basketball and outdoor sports.
A celebration of life service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Bishop and Bro. Charlie Harper officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Jeannie Valentine of Memphis, Jack Lann of LaComb, LA, Susan Lann of Tupelo, Rhonda Haynie of Corinth and Sherry Davis of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sisters, Roy Elder, Harold Elder, Orphus Elder, Bervil Watson, Mary Nell Lann, Henry Frank Elder and Neil Elder.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
