

He was born in Eastern Prentiss County on October 6 1919 to the late Willie K and Mattie Johnson Roy. He was a farmer, logger, and saw mill worker. He also worked in construction and meat processing. He retired from Prentiss County 5th district after 12 years. He attended New Hope and Burton Schools.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army serving in Burma-India during the Asiatic Pacific Campaign under General Wain Wright in Burma. His older brother Connie Roy served with General MacArthur in the Pacific and his younger brother William Roy was with General Patten in Italy and Germany. He was a member of the Greatest Generation.
He was a member of the Altitude/Hills Chapel Volunteer Fire Department and the Altitude Wildlife Hunting Club. He was one of the founding fathers of North Mississippi Coon Hunter’s Club. He attended New Hope and Old Bucksnort Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at McMillan Funeral Home with Elder Rick Taylor and Bro. Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Holley Cemetery.
He is survived by three sons, William C. Roy (Mary) of Altitude, James Roy and friend Betty Greer of Booneville, and Johnny B. Roy (Janet) of Altitude; three grandchildren, Molly Roy, Christina Roy Caveness (Trey), and Sarah Roy Thomas (Seth); one great granddaughter, Analyse Caveness; and a special caregiver, Betty Greer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie K. and Mattie Johnson Roy; his wife, Louise B. Roy; one infant daughter, Francis Roy; two sisters, Minnie Roy Crumby and Cleo Roy Cole; two brothers, Connie Roy and William Roy; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Wheat Roy.
Pallbearers will be Benny Taylor, Larry Lambert, Terry Cole, Mike Dunaway, Greg Knight, and Betty Greer.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Altitude Wildlife, Altitude/Hills Chapel Volunteer Fire Department, and North Mississippi Coon Hunters Club.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and until service time on Saturday.
