

Minister Jean A. Thornton, 90, of Booneville, died Monday, October 11, 2010, at Scott-Del Personal Care Home in Booneville. He was a member of the Booneville Church of Christ, he served on the President’s Advisory Board at Freed-Hardeman University for over forty years and was a past chairman of that board.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, October, 14, 2010 at Booneville Church of Christ with Minister Jim Olive, Minister Jim Estes and Minster Ralph Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in the Tiplersville Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Jeanita (Jim) Estes of Booneville and Joyce (Ralph) Gilmore of Jackson, TN: 1 sister, Julia (Bobby) Milstead of Florence, AL; 1 brother, John L. (Peggy) Thornton of Hendersonville, TN; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon) Nieuwboer, Jill Lewis, Rachel (Evan) Aldridge, Rose Gilmore, Tim (Tammie) Estes, Steve (Nicole) Estes, Jay (April) Estes, Jon Estes and LeAnn (Jeremy) Jones; 10 great grandchildren; his second wife’s children, Ann Langford of St. Petersburg, Fl and Barry Pardue,Sr. of Booneville.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Delphia H. Thornton, his second wife, Jewell Thornton; 1 infant daughter, 1 infant son, 1 sister and 4 brothers.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, and until 12 noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts should be sent to the J. A. Thornton Scholarship Fund at Freed-Hardeman University, 158 E. Main St, Henderson, TN 38340.
