

Jimmie King Massey, 83, passed away peacefully at her Cypress, TX home, Saturday, March 7, 2015, with her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Larry, by her side. Both were natives of the Booneville area, who met in first grade and were reconnected at a high school sporting event. Married a short time later on August 13, 1950, the couple began an adventurous love story that took them to careers in Washington, DC, St. Louis, MO, London, England, Cocoa Beach, FL, Pascagoula, MS, Houston, TX, Irvine, CA, and Booneville, MS where she retired after serving as Mayor Nelwyn Murphy’s administrative assistant.
Jimmie was born September 21, 1931 in Baldwyn, MS to Judge and Delsia King. Jimmie graduated Wheeler High School, class of 1950 where she was Valedictorian and Beauty Queen. She enjoyed her family and friends and never met a stranger. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Booneville, the Pilot Club and was active in the Goodfellows program.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:30 PM Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Booneville with Bro. Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Massey; one son, Larry (Susan) Massey Jr of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, John Massey and Katy (Chris) Massey Larimore both of Houston, TX; and one sister, Ladennis (Dewey) McCoy of Wheeler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jettie (James) Floyd and Eria (Buster) Jackson; and one brother, Boyce (Catherine) King.
Visitation will be 1-2:30pm Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the church.
