Leo Eugene Heytens, 93, of Booneville passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Leo was born on June 23, 1931 to his parents, George and Hilda Nordstrom Heytens. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a farmer where he loved tending to his cattle and his animals. He also loved preaching about God’s Kingdom and doing woodworking with his children and for many quick built kingdom halls. He was known for his contagious smile and strong work ethic.
A private family graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by his son, William “Bill” Heytens (Carol); his daughters, Jeanette Bommersbach (Duane), Mary Carpenter, Leah Patterson (Daniel), Esther Heytens, and Becky Jenkins; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ann Marie Cowart.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, of 62 years Judith Heytens; his sons, David Heytens and Timothy Heytens; and his brother, George Heytens.
