

Minister Lester Beal Coats, 89, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Cornerstone Health & Rehab in Corinth. He was born October 7, 1921, to W.T. and Lillie Bell Coats. He was member of Oak Ridge Church of Christ and preached 55 years for the Church of Christ in Adairville, Ky, Parsons, Tn, Waynesboro, MS, Okolona, MS, at Chapman (Ripley), Oak Ridge (Baldwyn), Mayfield (Saltillo), and Jumpertown. He was honorably discharged from the US Navy after WW II as a Water Tender Third Class serving aboard the USS Crescent City. He graduated from Wheeler High School and received an AA Degree from Freed-Hardeman College and a BA Degree from David-Lipscomb College.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Doug Greenway and Minister Scott Baggett officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Oak Ridge Church of Christ Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, June Coats; one daughter, Cheryl (Greg) Moss of Michie, TN; one son, Larry Thomas Coats of Booneville; one sister, Delma Frame of Nashville, TN; one brother, Wayne Coats of Mt. Juliet, TN; four grandchildren, William Thomas Coats II, Samuel Keith Coats, April Nicole Morris and Kendrick Wade Moss; and two great grandchildren, Tristan Morris and Hailey Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Sharon Kay Coats; three sisters, Virgie Harris, Eldred Hill and Thelma Coats; and two brothers, Vester and Charles Coats.
Visitation will be 5-9:00 pm Monday and until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
