Pete Harris

James Allen “Pete” Harris, Sr., 90, passed away April 18, 2019, at his home. He was born September 17, 1928, to Lunsford and Rhoda Pounds Harris. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the VFW, and enjoyed hunting, gardening and playing dominoes.

A celebration of life service with military honors will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 20, 2019, McMillan Funeral Home with Minister Tony Brown officiating. Burial will be in Saucer Creek Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley A. Harris; two sons, Allen Harris and Billy Ray Harris; one daughter, Trish Carter; a step-son, Ricky Gillentine; four grandchildren, Jennifer Harris (Jabbo) Ross, Kim Carter (David) Harris, Josh Estes and Joel Estes; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Mathis, Jackson Mathis, Kayson Ross, Jayden Estes and Carter Harris; and five nephews, Larry (Stephanie) Harris, Jimmy (Ruth) Harris, Bill Harris, J.W. Harris and Tommy (Barbara Sue) Guinn.

He was preceded in death by his a step-son, Dennis Gillentine; his parents; five brothers, M.C. Harris, Curtis Harris, Earl Harris, Hershel Harris and Henry Harris; two sisters, Mamie Harris Guinn and Eunice Harris; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Brooke Mathis.

Pallbearers are David Harris, Larry Harris, Chuck Wilson, Jimmy Harris Jabbo Ross and Rick Owens.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
