

Alvin Quentin Vanderhoof, 89, of Boonville died October 12, 2021. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, October 18, 2021 at Walnut Grove Cemetery under the direction of William Wood Funeral Home, 517 Fourth Street, Boonville, MO.
Alvin was the fifth of six sons born to Vernon and Margarette Petty Vanderhoof. He married the love of his life, Katherine Brizendine, on January 8, 1956. Alvin is fondly remembered by family and friends for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, and dedication to his wife, children, and friends. He enjoyed being a member of the Boonville McDonald’s morning coffee club, spending time at home doing yard work, and playing Solitaire.
He served honorably with the U.S. Army in Korea during which he was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.
Alvin is survived by his children, Janelle Selsor of Boonville, John Vanderhoof of Richardson, TX, Jeanna Vanderhoof (Steve Braithwaite) of Gore, VA, and Jeffrey Vanderhoof of Gladstone, MO. He is also survived by grandchildren, Amelia Selsor, Denver Adam Selsor (Amanda), Andrew McDermott, Ian McDermott, and Hannah Selsor as well as great-grandson Raiden Selsor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Katherine, brothers LeLand, Sumner, Harold, LeRoy, and David and grandson Zane Braithwaite.
