A veteran of WWII, CPL Bernard Schwartz, US Army Air Corps, participated in both the American Campaign and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign.
Bernard loved and adored his wife Isabel (Gilmore) Schwartz. He was predeceased by Isabel and three of his siblings, Phillip Schwartz, Irving Schwartz and Pearle Eich.
Bernard is survived by his brother, James Schwartz (almost 97) , his nephews, Arnie Schwartz, Edward Eich, George Schwartz, Lester Schwartz , Peter Schwartz, many great nieces and nephews, and his wonderful friend Eleanor Christie.
An avid lover of music, Bernard received a Master of Musicology degree from Boston University. He was founder and past president of the Haydn Society.
Bernard had an uncanny ability to name a symphonic movement, as well as identify the orchestra and conductor, when listening to a recording on the radio. Bernard and Isabel enjoyed season tickets to the Boston Symphony Orchestra when they lived in the Back Bay. He continued to enjoy live BSO performances until late in life.
Bernard was pleased to be an educator and spent his entire career teaching at the Chelsea Senior High School.
His wonderful beaming wit and creative sensitivity will be fondly remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to have had him touch their lives
A gathering to celebrate Bernard's life will occur at 11 AM on Sunday April 21 2013 at the Danversport Yacht Club. http://www.danversport.com/ 161 Elliott Street. Danvers, MA 01923.
