Beloved wife of the late Michael John "Bobby" O'Connor. Born in Boston, Peg was the daughter of John and Dorothy Preble. She attended Girls' Latin School in Dorchester and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. For many years Peg was the owner of a costume rental business located on Newbury Street in Boston. The business provided costumes for theatrical productions throughout the U.S. After selling her business, she became the assistant to the President of The Hundred Club of Mass., Inc., a charitable corporation that provides benefits to the surviving family members of firefighters and police officers in Massachusetts who are killed in the line of duty. For more than 25 years she was closely involved with these surviving families. Peg was an avid bird watcher, reader, gardener, equestrian, needle pointer and supporter of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Beginning in high school and throughout the rest of her life, Peg regularly attended and thoroughly enjoyed BSO performances. She was a direct descendant of Commodore Edward Preble, who commanded the USS Constitution in 1803. She was an active supporter of the USS Constitution Museum in Charlestown. One of Peg's most endearing qualities was helping people and organizations throughout her life. Her benevolence was bestowed on many in a quiet manner and she sought no recognition for her philanthropic endeavors. Many people and charitable organizations benefited from her generosity. Since Peg's business was located on Newbury Street, she became acquainted with Bobby, who was the head doorman at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. They were made for each other and were the Prince and Princess of Newbury Street. Bobby was the love of her life and their relationship can only be described as a lifelong love affair. Peg will be remembered as a beautiful and classy woman who was totally committed to and loved her Prince Bobby, and whose grace and generosity touched many people that she encountered throughout her life. Peg is survived by her two nephews, John C. Leaman, of New York, New York and George F. Leaman, of Little Neck, New Jersey. She is also survived by Bobby's daughter Karen Jones, and her two children, Jonathan Jones and Joyce Jones, all of Quincy, Massachusetts.
