Michael Paternese

Michael Paternese of Medford, passed away on December 20, 2021. Michael was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and dedicated friend to so many. He was a big presence. He took part in lighting up the feasts in the North End for over 40 years. Committed member to Madonna Della Cava Society. He was always available to help anyone in need. Michael enjoyed going on vacations with his family and friends, was an avid sports fan, especially the Bruins. Most important of all, he loved his family more than anything. They always came first in his life. Michael will be missed by so many both in the North End and in Medford. Beloved son of the late Dominic and Gloria (Maccalone) Paternese. Loving husband of Anita (Leventoyannis) Paternese. Cherished father of Michael “MJ” Paternese of Medford. Dear brother of Brenda Corso and her late husband Jerry of Swampscott, Donna Alessi and her husband Richard of Medford, and Janice Galeno and her partner Jim of Winchester. Adored uncle of Rich Alessi, Jaime Alessi, Jonathan Corso, Joey Corso and John Michael Galeno. Also survived by many loving great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 8:30am-10:30am in the J.S. Waterman-Langone Chapel, 580 Commercial St., Boston with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11am in St. Stephen Church, 401 Hanover St., Boston. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
