Thomas K. Tighe, born October 2, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY, passed away on October 31, 2018 surrounded by family. He was above all else a beloved father, mentor, and friend. He leaves behind three children, Kathleen M. Tighe, Charlestown, MA; Joseph K. Tighe and wife Lauren, West Springfield, MA; Thomas A. Tighe, McClean, VA and a loving partner in life, Deborah A. Tighe, along with brothers Kevin Daniel Tighe and wife Gail Tighe and Matthew Conway. An avid hockey player, Tom shared many hours with his family on the ice rink, passing on a love of hockey as well as pond skating. Off the ice he patiently taught his children how to read through comics, strategize through chess, and served as a volunteer basketball coach and co-coach of the Monson High School Debate League. He devoted life and love to building, craft carpentry, eating a perfect slice of pizza, cheering for the Yankees, yelling at the Bruins, being disappointed by the Jets, and loving his children. He inspired those around him to fight until the end, to push through the pain, and to believe that better days were yet to come. He made us all better people. His motto “Tighe’s never quit” endured until time ran out. Until we see him again we pray that our lives make him proud. Dad, we miss you. Please join family and friends at a funeral mass at St. Leonard Church in Boston’s North End at 10 AM on Saturday, November 10th, followed by a celebration at his home. In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to SCORE Boston Hockey, an organization that enables at-risk inner city children to play hockey.
