

MERGROTTI, Albert James, 79, of East Freetown passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2021 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. Albert was born to the late Lawrence and Marion (Space) Mergrotti on October 1, 1941 in Medford, MA.
After graduation from Rockland High School, he enlisted in the Army where he was assigned to the U.S. Army Security Agency Training Regiment at Fort Devens, MA. After being Honorably discharged as a Spec 4, he started his career with Bank Vault Services in Boston, Boston Lock and Safe Co., New England Services, and for the past 20 years he was Senior Physical Security Technician Team Leader for Diebold/Nixdorf. He was working full time until his illness. He enlisted in the United States Army back in 1962 and proudly served his country for 3 years. While serving in the Army, he received a medal of Good Conduct, as well as, a M1 Rifle Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge.
Albert was married to his loving wife Irene for 27 years. In his free time, Albert enjoyed fixing clocks and watching old Turner movies
He will be remembered for his famous saying, “listen to daddy”.
Albert is survived by his beloved bride Irene, his daughter Angela Andrade of East Freetown, MA, his 3 grandsons, Alan, Ryan and Evan Andrade, and his sister Jean Janosz and her husband Russell Janosz Jr. of Bedford, N.H., a brother-in-law Robert Kelliher of Marshfield MA, a niece Kristyn (Kelliher) Ross and her husband Ben of Melrose MA, and a great niece, Maeve and great nephew, Robert. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Kelliher.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1st at 11:30am in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. A one hour private visitation will precede the service between 10:30am to 11:30am. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, September 30th from 4pm – 8pm in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
Albert's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Brigham and Women's Hospital for the kind and compassionate care they provided to him.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting that everyone wear a mask to all the services.
