
Charles Thomas Costello, 84, died on October 8, 2011 in Falmouth. He was born in 1927 to John and Elizabeth Costello. Charles joined the Marines, serving during WWII where he ranked as a Private 1st Class and earned a Good Conduct Medal. In 1969, he married Marjorie (Keating) and they were married for 36 years. Charles worked as a letter carrier for the Whitestone Post Office for 40 years, retiring to Bourne, MA. and Vero Beach, FL.
An avid Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Mets baseball fan, Charles also was a member of the Whitestone VFW and an active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He also enjoyed working at Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Florida during the winter months. Charles leaves his daughter, Elizabeth Costello of Orlando, FL.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 841 Shore Road, Pocasset. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Whitestone VFW, 19-12 149th Street, Whitestone, NY 11357 or to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011
