David Scott "Bibs" Bibby, 78, passed away on November 10, 2025, in Bourne, Massachusetts. Born on June 28, 1947, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, David lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, and selfless devotion to his family and community.
David pursued his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology and the University of Massachusetts Lowell, laying the foundation for a distinguished career as a civil engineer. He dedicated his professional life to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where he played a vital role in building roads and bridges that continue to serve communities across the state. His work left a lasting influence on the infrastructure of Massachusetts and reflected his commitment to public service and engineering excellence.
From 1969 to 1971, David served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. A highly decorated Seabee, his medals include two bronze stars for meritorious service in Vietnam. David's time in the military exemplified his sense of duty and discipline—qualities that would define both his personal and professional life.
David was a devoted husband to Karen (Cady) Bibby, who was by his side at the time of his passing. Their 54-year marriage was an exemplar of partnership, playfulness, and profound love. David was a proud patriarch to three accomplished sons and their families: Scott and Amy Bibby of New Bern, NC and their son Henry; Jason and Karissa Bibby of East Falmouth, MA and their children Jason and Stella; and Steven and Megan Bibby of Groton Long Point, CT and their children Camden and Cady. All will remember David as a venerated, supportive, and joyful presence in their lives.
Known affectionately as "Bibs," David was a generous neighbor and friend. He found happiness in simple pleasures—boating along New England’s waterways, gathering with friends for card games, building and repairing structures, and volunteering his time for causes close to home. His presence brought warmth and a sense of calm to those around him.
David was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Barbara (Childs) Bibby, as well as by his brother Richard Bibby. Their memories remained close to him throughout his life.
David's legacy lives on through the roads he built, the country he served, the family he loved so deeply, and the countless lives he touched with quiet generosity and steadfast kindness. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
