Born to the late Marie (Hayner) Jones and Donald W. Cunningham, Sr in Wareham, MA.
Don was a honest man, who would give the shirt off his back and pick anyone up from the airport at any time. He was a man who took pride in his work and family. His children refer to him as “Mr. Fix-it” stating if he can’t fix it, it’s not broken! After serving in the US Navy during Vietnam Don held many maintenance type positions until his retirement from Whitehall Estates, as maintenance director. You could often find him with his coffee and beloved dog at Monument Beach. Don had a love for fishing, discussing politics, being able to coach his son’s little league football team, and riding his horses when he lived on his ranch in Illinois.
He is survived by his children, Kelly Kenna of Buzzards Bay, MA, Eve Cunningham of Monument Beach, MA, Sylvia J Slinde and her husband, Christopher of Antigo, WI, and Drew W. Cunningham of Carrboro, NC; grandchildren Kylia Vickory, Rylee Slinde, Layne Slinde, Elizabelle Slinde, and Jack Semancik; siblings, Karen Anderson and Julie Goulart. He was predeceased by his sister, Donna Hendrick, his mother and father.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a burial with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 11:30 am on July 2, 2025 with arrangements for a lunch at his home after.
