Douglas Gregory Russell, 68, of Bourne, died Tuesday.
He was born to the late Gordon & Dorothy Russell, April 27th, 1949, in Ogden, UT. Greg graduated from Davis High School in 1967 and attended Weber State University. He relocated to Massachusetts shortly thereafter to reunite with his brother Dennis.
Greg spent most of his life in the real estate business, starting as a Realtor in Utah, becoming a corporate employee with Century 21 in Burlington MA, graduating that path to become the broker owner of the number one Century 21 office in New England. His commitment to the business was absolute, a forward thinker with a knack for seeing trends before they became trends, his voice carried a wide breadth and a respected weight.
His relocation to the east coast was a leap of faith. He built a beautiful life, family and career here where recently he savored every moment with his grandsons, they brought a light to his eyes with every conversation, interaction and breath. An avid traveler, a lover of his motor home and the freedom it provided, his idea of camping simply was not complete without Real mountain ranges on the horizon. Of all his accomplishments and successes here in Massachusetts, he remained a mid-westerner to his core, he was happiest in a flannel shirt and dungarees, driving a 20 year old pickup truck across vast stretches of road with at least 100 miles between gas stations.
Greg is survived by two children: Michael Russell and Kristen Meiggs of Plymouth, MA; he is also survived by his two cherished grandsons, Owen Fitzpatrick and Zachary Fitzpatrick, his brothers, Mickey Russell, Syracuse UT and Dennis Russell, Plymouth MA, the late Gary Russell Las Vegas, NV, he is also survived by dozens of adored nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
A private memorial will be held with his family locally with additional services to be held in Utah at a later date.
