Eileen Patricia Flynn, resident of Keystone Place in Buzzards Bay Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025 at the McCarthy Care Center Hospice in East Sandwich on Cape Cod. Pat Flynn, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Belfast Maine, on May 22, 1928 to Leroy and Fausta Cunningham. The family moved to Bridgewater, Massachusetts where she attended school, and met and married Eugene J. Flynn, her high school sweetheart. It was the high school cheerleader meeting the team quarterback. They married in 1948, after Gene returned from Korea, and eventually settled in nearby Middleboro, Massachusetts where they raised their two daughters Rebecca Burke and Eileen Godlis.
Eugene was a successful Oil Burner Installer with an oil delivery service. Pat worked at Bridgewater State College. With their large families in Maine and Massachusetts, Pat and Gene’s home was the center of many beloved gatherings and reunions. Pat loved crafts, gardening and landscaping around the home in Middleboro. And even into her 90’s could be seen weed whacking around her daughter’s home in Onset, Massachusetts. Upon retirement Pat and Gene relocated to Bradenton, Florida where they lived many years amongst friends in the Ridgewood community. In 2023 Pat decided to return to Massachusetts to be closer to her large family. Eileen Patricia Flynn was survived by her daughter Eileen Godlis who passed 3 weeks after her in January, and granddaughters Megan Burke and Sadie Godlis. Pat Flynn is now buried in Bourne Military Cemetery with her husband Eugene J. Flynn.
There will be “Celebration of Life” for Pat and her daughter Eileen, for family and friends on May 24th at 2pm at the First Congregational Church of Wareham, Groezinger Room, 11 Gibbs Ave. Wareham MA 02571
