

Born in Boston, MA a daughter of the late Francis and Beatrice (Moran) McTernan.
Esther was a member of the first graduating class of Roslindale High School in 1937. During WWII she worked on a Comptometer doing inventory for the war effort. She was a remarkable mother, wife and devoted friend. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. Being a devout catholic she had a great love of family and friends and she would help others without thoughts of reward.
She resided in Boston for many years; and after her husband retired, the two moved to Bourne until his passing, at which point she moved back to Boston to care for her brother until his death. Esther later moved to Braintree with her daughter and family, then to Whitman and finally back to Bourne.
She is survived by her children Charles Roche and his wife Barbara, Joan Gould and her husband Daniel; son-in-law, Jeremiah Higgins; grandchildren, Megan Roche, Sheila, and Robert Scott, Jacqueline, Jean, Bridget, and Kathleen Higgins, and Daniel, Michael, Matthew and Lauren Gould and Roka Francis; 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Patricia Higgins and her brothers and sisters.
