Joseph David Francis Ransom

Mr. Joseph D. Ransom, age 90, passed away on October 7, 2014, peacefully at home. Mr. Ransom was born on August 10, 1924 in Boston MA. He resided in Charlotte NC for the past 7 years. He is preceded by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth A. Ransom who passed 5 years ago, and his son, Richard Ransom who passed in 2012. Mr. Ransom was a loving father, husband, Grandfather, Uncle and friend. He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Dennis and Annie Ransom of Charlotte NC, Grandchildren Sarah, Mark and Joanna Ransom, as well as by many loving nieces and nephews. Joe was a WWII veteran, 101st Airborne Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He is also a Purple Heart Recipient. He was truly one of the Greatest Generation. With the heart of a hero and the character of the men from his time, Joe lived his life with honor and was loved by all who knew him. Joe had many professions but made most of his living as a General Foods Distributor in Syracuse NY where he lived for almost 20 years. After retiring, Joe and his wife moved to Cape Cod to live out their dream retirement. They moved to Charlotte NC 7 years ago to be with their son and daughter in law, Dennis and Annie. A funeral mass will held Monday at 9 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Rd. Pocasset. Burial to follow with military honors at MA National Cemetery Bourne at 10:30 am.
