Melvin Joseph Burns

Chick was born July 8, 1927, in Buzzards Bay, the son of John and Flora (McIsaac) Burns. He attended Bourne High School before entering the United States Navy. After his discharge from the Navy he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he played football to entertain the troops in Europe.

He enjoyed working in the yard, and on the home he built.

Preceding him in death were his parents, siblings John Burns, Bernard Burns, Russell Burns, and Ethel Dobbins.

He was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Dexter) and beloved father of Sharon Burns of Horsehead, NY. He also leaves his favorite nephew James Dobbins and his wife Patti of Buzzards Bay, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

A visitation with family will be held at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA on Friday April 24 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM following the visitation.
