Patricia Kasmar Clark passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Richard F. Clark for 53 years. Pat and Richard met at a church social gathering at Duke University in 1963 where they were both undergraduates. They both graduated from Duke University in 1965, with Pat earning Phi Beta Kappa (Bachelor of Arts) and married in June of the same year.
Pat will be deeply missed by her family, her many friends and church members. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at The New Testament Church of Cedarville at 3 PM on Sunday, May 20, with a reception to follow. Using her strong faith and teaching skills she held Small Group Bible Studies in her home and was an active volunteer in many areas at The New Testament Church.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of the late John Kasmar and Lucielle (Klepka), Pat worked as a school teacher and Head of the Language Department at Plymouth North High School for most of her work career which spanned 34 years. More recently, she taught at The New Testament Christian School in Plymouth. Pat knew and taught French and Spanish and was also fluent in Polish and Russian. She also taught at a Christian School in Roseville, CA, and public schools in Norfolk, VA and Stoneham, MA.
An avid cook, Pat enjoyed creating culinary delights, bringing to the art the same creativity, intensity and excellence she brought to every area of her life. She enjoyed sailing; both cruising and in the PHRF racing fleet. Pat was also an avid and expert quilter, making 23 different quilts, mostly as treasured mementos for members of her family. Pat served on the Board of Directors of the Jenney House Museum for the last four years. As part of her service to the museum, she created and portrayed a character known as “Goodwife Patience” for visitors to the museum, helping them to understand what life was really like in the early years in Plymouth after the arrival of the Mayflower. Pat also volunteered countless hours at the Jenney Museum, making and repairing costumes, curtains, donating many items for the exhibits, as well as researching and reading children’s books for accuracy to sell in the Museum gift shop. She was also a valued editor and researcher for the educational programs and writings at the Museum. She leaves behind a son, David Clark, and his wife Amy, grandchildren Dylan, Abby, and Matthew from Plymouth, MA; a second son, Phillip Clark, from Plymouth, MA, and a third son Jeffrey Clark and his wife Jennifer, grandchildren Kira and Logan from Springfield, VA. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Philip Clark, and sister-in- law, Penny Clark, from Mystic, CT.
