Rita Frances Bowse

BOWSE. On April 28, 2017, Rita Frances (Barthel) Bowse, age 92, a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt, sister and friend departed this life in the presence of loved ones at the caring and loving community at the Eagle Pond Rehabilitation Center in South Dennis, MA. Rita was a graduate of Dedham High School and Bryant & Stratton Secretarial School. She was an employee of H.E. Harris Stamp Company in Boston, MA. She was a member of Riverdale RiverRats. She was a member of Boylston Schul-Verein in Walpole, MA. and a member of the Ladies VFW Auxilliary post 2017 in Dedham, MA. Rita was an avid bowler and received multiple bowling trophies and awards. She appeared on “Candlepins for Cash.” Rita enjoyed spending time with her family and had a gift for sewing and crafts.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bowse and daughter, Roberta Bowse Foster of Brewster, MA,; sisters Thelma Leone of Wayland, MA,; and Freida Herendeen of Westwood, MA. and her parents, Thecel (Began) Barthel and Theodore Barthel of Dedham, MA. She is survived by her children Donna Bowse of Dedham, MA., Beverley Bowse of Midlothian, VA.; Ronald Bowse and wife Theresa Bowse of Marston Mills, MA.; and Laura Kohr of Andover, MA.; her sister Catherine Craven of Plymouth, MA.; She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4th at St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Road, Pocasset MA. 02559.

Interment will follow in Bourne Veteran National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.

Visiting hours are on Wednesday May 3rd from 5-8 p.m. at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA 02532.
