

He was born Robert George Dietrich on May 24, 1936, in St. Louis, MO, the son of George and Clara (Bangert). Robert grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1953. He went on to Washington University in St. Louis to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He received his Master’s degree from California Institute of Technology Pasadena, California.
Robert served his country as an Officer in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960.
On October 19, 1963 he was united in marriage to Sally Reed in the Hancock Congregational Church in Lexington, MA. This union was blessed with two children, Scott and Gretchen.
He was an electrical engineer for thirty-five years for the Raytheon Company. He and Sally have lived on the Cape for twenty years, moving from Acton.
Bob spent a lot of time on the computer, he enjoyed boating and sailing with the power squadron. He was a woodworker and a ham radio operator, his favorite interest though was photography and spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and a sister, Catherine Card.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Sally, his children Scott Dietrich of E. Sandwich and Gretchen S. Dietrich of Alexandria, Virginia. His siblings Glenn Dietrich and wife Vicki of San Antonio, TX, and Claire Anne Gross and her husband Frank of Williamsburg, VA. Also surviving are his grandchildren Christopher Dietrich and Caitlyn Levesque and her husband Rob and their daughter Carleen Grace.
Burial will be private, with military honors, in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
