Barbara Jean Simmons, “Backi” to those who loved her, found peace on June 2, 2022. Barbara was a resident of Bowie, MD for over 40 years. Barbara was born and raised in Anderson, West Virginia on January 21, 1945. Barbara graduated from high school in Rubert, WV, and later became a beautician for over 40 years. She did not just style hair; she was very artistic and had numerous works of art displaying her skills. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, and playing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her loving spouse whom she married on February 9, 1969, Earl Simmons, her devoted daughters, Diana Barnes of Crofton, MD and Jeanette Simmons of Odenton, MD, as well as her siblings John Baker of Lusby, MD., Ken Baler of Las Vegas, NV and Elizabeth Crowell of Virginia Beach, VA., as well as her two grandchildren Ashley and Ashton.
A memorial service for Barbara will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715.
