Betty Joan was born on May 22, 1936 in Washington, DC to her beloved parents John Carl and Virgia Inez Pippert of Bladensburg, MD.
Raised in Bladensburg, Maryland, there she met George A. Anadale Jr., her lifelong partner. They married in 1954, when she was 18, beginning a 70-year journey with many shared memories until George's passing in December..
Growing up in Bladensburg, she built a strong network of family and friends. Her family home was a gathering place for relatives and friends, where she also learned about the Kentucky rifle from her father. She also enjoyed collecting movie magazines and roller skating. Her bond with her sister, Carole Jeanette Pippert, was always central to her life. She graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1954, forming lifelong friendships.
After her marriage to George, the two of them resided in Jacksonville, NC, Landover Estates, MD and finally settled in Glenn Dale, MD where they spent 59 years together. There Betty delighted in cooking, gardening, enjoying her many cherished pets, and raising her family.
For 25 years, Betty and George's Northern Neck, Virginia beach house was a beloved "home-away-from-home," creating cherished family memories. Days were filled with fishing, crabbing, and boating. Evenings transformed into lively hubs for marathon Monopoly games and spirited bingo nights, fostering lifelong bonds and joy. More than a dwelling, it was a sanctuary of happiness and a testament to family.
Betty's varied career paths included a brief stint in real estate, but her true passion was antiques. Every Wednesday, she indulged in treasure hunts at local auctions, meticulously acquiring exquisite pieces for "The Top Drawer," her beloved antique store. This wasn't just a business; it was a deep love for history and artistry.
Betty is survived by her four children, Dianne Lynn Jones, Steven Carl Anadale (Cathy), Suzanne Carole Walker (Steve), and Kathleen Marie Anadale (Kenny) as well as seven grandchildren, Danny, Ashley, Brett, Jason, Kristen, Carl and Molly. And her 10 great-grandchildren, Jack, Noah, Evie, Lydia, Shoshanna, Lorilei, Rocco, Mason, June, and Miles.
A memorial service will be held at Robert Evans Funeral Home in Bowie, MD on July 14, 2025 at 10:00 am. Following, she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, George at Cedar Hills Cemetery.
