Chris I love you and I will miss you. I have been remembering how you enjoyed playing Army, riding the go kart even though you ran it upon the curb, your first motorcycle and your car raising days and I almost forgot how you always enjoyed getting me in trouble. Your passing will leave loss feelings as well as great sorrow for not having said those last words of I love you.

     As you know, Chris was one of our computer experts.  When we asked him a question, there was often a hesitation, a long pause, and then the answer would spill out, information tumbling on top of information like water down a waterfall.  He always thought before he answered.  It is interesting because when he saw us in the hall, he would immediately call out, "Hello," followed by your given name.  You might not think that was unusual, but I worked for a group in the Bureau of Accounts at one time where the secretaries were called to their face by every other secretary's name.
     On the last day Chris was at work, I saw him in the Mail Room, trying to solve a problem, asking questions and holding a large brown envelope.  When he saw me walk in the door, he waved and called "Hello," with my given name, and went back to work.  When I left, I turned to wave, but his attention was elsewhere and I did not try to interrupt, knowing there would be other times.
     He liked to smoke with Mark Cummings in front of the building.  Together they would solve the problems of the world.  You know who was doing the majority of the talking.  Among other topics, Chris always had advice on raising children, especially how to make children think that what they were doing was their own idea.
     At times Chris would reach out and hold the door of the lobby open for me.  I think of him doing that sometimes when I enter the building in the morning.
     When we get up to Heaven's gate, I have faith that Chris will meet each of us at the threshold and call out, "Hello!" and our given name.  And we shall all know that, then, indeed, there will be other times.
     Chris had a spirt of generosity.  May it live on!

Chris was a valued member of our STB family and his passing has left feelings of loss and sorrow.  We remember him warmly and fondly.
