Daniel Jenkins, Jr. was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Daniel, Sr. and Lizzie Jenkins on February 19, 1954. On April 2, 1995, Danny married his loving wife, Debbie, and began a wonderful, adventurous, life full of laughter and love. In their 32 years together, Danny and Debbie built a home full of love and shenanigans. He was the proud dad of Brad, Averi, (with first wife, Bernice) Christina, and Kiana. On June 18, 2015, Danny became a doting grandpa. “Poppy” and his “boy” Lleyton were inseparable from day one. He was a protective, compassionate, supportive, and tender-hearted father and grandfather- the kind every kid should have!
Danny graduated from Grover Cleveland Junior High School and Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The University of Maryland- University College. At the age of 21, Danny joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for 30 years. He was a meticulous Navy sailor and moved up through the ranks. In August of 2005, Danny retired at the rank of E9 Master Chief.
Danny’s most endearing characteristic was his good sense of humor. He was a prankster with an insatiable appetite for practical jokes. He impacted everyone he met with his infectious smile and mischievous eyes. Danny was the life of the party. He loved to dance. He was the first to arrive at the party and the last to leave the dance floor.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Debbie; his beloved children, Brad, Christina, Averi, and Kiana; grandson, Lleyton; sons-in-law, Alvin and Mike; daughter-in-law, Diana; sister Vernell; nephews, William, Jr. and Bryan; niece-in-law, Shavonne, and a host of cousins, friends, and Navy shipmates.
