October 15, 1936 – April 7, 2026
Frances Neale Adams Carroll, known affectionately as “Fran” to all who loved her, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026. She was 89 years old.
Born on October 15, 1936, in Covington, Virginia, to Henry Edwards Adams and Frances Burruss, Fran was defined by two great pillars in her life: her deep, abiding love for Jesus and her genuine love for people. After graduating from the Medical College of Virginia, she dedicated a few years to serving others as an x-ray technician.
Fran shared 46 years of marriage with her husband, Clark Carroll. They had two sons, Clark John (Jack) Carroll and Henry Edwards (Ed) Carroll. Her family grew with the addition of her two daughters-in-law, Wreatha and Stasia, two granddaughters, Anne and Marie, and her great-grandson, Grady.
A faithful member of Cornerstone Church for more than 40 years, Fran’s faith was an active one. She spent some of her happiest hours in service to others, ministering through Mt. Hope Prison Ministry and supporting young mothers through the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) Ministry.
Those who knew Fran will best remember her heart for her "little critters." She found great peace in her backyard, where she enjoyed feeding the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks that she considered her neighborhood friends. However, her greatest joy was found in the company of people. Many days her kitchen table or patio were places of refuge and connection, where countless cups of coffee or glasses of sweet tea and meaningful conversations were shared. Fran’s warmth and wisdom left an indelible impact on everyone who sat with her.
She will be missed by her family, as well as her community of friends who truly became her family over the years.
Service Information A celebration of Fran’s life will be held at Cornerstone Church 16010 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, MD on April 23, 2026, with visitation starting at 9:30am and Celebration of Life Service starting at 10:30am.
Memorial Donations In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran’s honor to Mt. Hope Prison Ministry, a cause that remained close to Fran’s heart. A check can be sent to Mt. Hope, PO Box 1511, Hagerstown, MD 21741 – put Fran Carroll in the memo.
