He was born March 2, 1943, in Riverdale, Md. to his parents Benjamin F. Clark & Anne Lily Tippet Clark. He was the second child of six. He was raised in the Brentwood area and moved to Bowie in 1955.
Along with his father and brothers, he joined the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department in 1962, where he became a life member and was inducted into the Prince George's County Firefighter Hall of Fame. After serving in many offices, over the years, his final office was as a long standing member of the Coffee Club, sitting on the front ramp of Co. 19 Huntington station, where a lot of his family and friends would see him.
In 1964 started working for the City of Bowie, walking the streets as a water meter reader. He eventually moved into the water purification plant, where he worked his way up to and retired as an Assistant Supervisor, after completing 40+ years with the city.
He loved fishing, hunting, softball, bowling, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and one great granddaughter. He also enjoyed working on lawnmowers, chainsaws and any small engine for anyone who needed it.
George was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Mary Ann and LeRoy (Bunky) Brown, his sister-in-laws Joyce Clark, Darlene Clark and brother-in-laws Owen Tucker and Marc Earls.
He is survived by his brothers John, Thomas, and Daniel (Brenda) and his sisters Barbara Tucker and Linda Earls, his children Katie Clark-Ross (Frank), Jenny Clark, and George Jr. [Eddie] (Katharine), his grand-children Justin Clark (Kiersten), Brandy Martin, Elisabeth, and Shawn, and one great-granddaughter Bristol Grae.
A celebration of life will be held June 7,2025 at the American Legion Disney Bell Post 66 at 9605 Laurel-Bowie Rd. from 2-6 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Bowie Volunteer Fire Dept. in memory of George.
