Went to grade school together. Graduated from Merry High School in Jackson, Tennessee in the class of 1958. Both attended Tennessee State University, he graduated in 1962, I in 1963. Thank you for being my friend. I will never forget you.

My Uncle Harold was a wonderful and caring member of our family. From my earliest memories as a child, he was always loving to us and great fun to be around. He always took the time to visit us, send cards, and reach out to us. At our last meeting, during the graduation of my middle son, Harold was still the great uncle I had grown to appreciate and respect. I will truly miss him, but will always remember him in my memories, thoughts, and prayers.

As cousins go he was one of the best. When ever we talked he always had an encouraging word to say. Although he was 8 years older than I, when I was a young kid, and our family would travel to Jackson, Tenn. to visit
the Berry home, he didn't mind me tagging along when he went places. And that was a big deal for me, at that time. I know that God has a place for him and the lights of Heaven are glowing brighter because of his presence.

I have two favorite memories of my uncle Ike:

I laughed every time he or my father or my mother told the stories of when they would put together our Christmas gifts. There would always seem to be nuts or bolts or something left over. None of the gifts ever fell apart (that I can remember) so I guess that Uncle Ike & Earl did a great job of putting together gifts.

I also thank my uncle Ike for teaching me the beauty of selecting the right scotch. I remember I was traveling to Canada and stopped by to visit in Cincinnati and he and I sat as he explained to me how to be a scotch connoisseur. We both fell asleep in the chairs happy and more knowledgeable that night!!

Love you Unc!

See you on the other side!!

Praise God we know he is in the presence of the Lord and in no more pain. He can now lay aside the rumors and see for himself that the streets of Heaven are Black and Old Gold.
