James F. McCauley

James Francis McCauley of Bowie, Maryland died on Thursday, August 5, 2010. James was the husband of the late Claire A. McCauley; father of Eileen Williams and her husband Michael and the late James W. McCauley; brother of Edward McCauley and the late Thomas McCauley; grandfather of Keith M. and Megan C. Williams, Jeremy J. McCauley and the late Joshua J. McCauley. James is also survived by a daughter-in-law Marion McCauley and five great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland 20715 on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Bowie, Maryland. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.

James F. McCauley, 86, a 47-year resident of Bowie, died August 5 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late James and Mae McCauley. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps aboard the U.S.S. Alabama from 1943 to 1945. James retired from Litton Industries and was a member of St. Pius X Church.

He enjoyed reading, traveling, football and being an active member and volunteer of the Marine Corps League, VFW, Knights of Columbus in Bowie, and the American Legion 226.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire; son, James and grandson, Joshua, both of Washington, D.C.; and brother, Thomas of South Plainfield, N.J.

He is survived by his daughter, Eileen Williams of Edgewater; three grandchildren, Keith and Megan Williams, both of Edgewater, and Jeremy McCauley of Washington D.C.; and five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Logan, Julia, Gabriella and Nicholas.

Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 12 at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday, August 13 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Bowie. Interment at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham.
