

James Muriel Thomas, 78, peacefully passed away at his home on February 23, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Sarah McIntyre and Lee Thomas, both of whom preceded him in death.
James graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1963 and went on to serve his country as a Private First Class E3 in the United States Army from June 1963 until 1966. He dedicated most of his service in Germany, earning an honorable discharge.
After his military service, James pursued a career as a welder with Boilermakers Union Local 193, where he worked diligently from 1972 to 2000. He retired at the age of 55, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Leedy Thomas, whom he married on November 2, 1984. James is survived by his children Caryn, Tammy, and Brian. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Isaac, Jenna, Samantha, Remy, Dakota, and Kyle.
James was also preceded in death by his sister Susan Knight Baierlein and is survived by his two brothers Hershel and Chester Knight. He cherished the bond with his siblings, and their memories will forever be etched in the family's heart.
In his younger years, James enjoyed playing poker, showcasing his skill and strategic mind. He was an animal lover, finding joy in walking his dog Peaches. Above all, he treasured moments spent with his grandchildren and family, creating lasting memories.
The family appreciates the support and condolences during this challenging time. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Parkinson's Foundation.
A memorial service to celebrate James Muriel Thomas's life will be held at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 27. Memorial gathering from 10-10:30 with a celebration of life to share memories from 10:30-11.
