

In 1950, she graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. Degree in Nursing and received her RN license in 1951.
She left nursing to raise a family and began Highbridge Ceramics, a business that flourished for over twenty years. Later she was instrumental in making a secondary business, Highbridge Molds, a success.
In 1983, Mary returned to nursing and joined the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA). She retired in 1997.
Mary Alice McDonough was predeceased by her beloved husband of forty-five years, Thomas Joseph McDonough, Jr., her mother Alice Desprez Dowe, and father, Ray Michael Dowe, Sr.
She is survived by her brother, Ray Michael Dowe, Jr., and her children, Mary Alice Cloukey, Virginia Fitzpatrick, Margaret Gochal , Thomas McDonough, III, Kathleen McDonough, Holly Abunassar, and Peter McDonough, Sr. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
There will be a celebration of Mary Alice McDonough’s life. Wake on Friday, September 1, at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. The Funeral will be held on Saturday, September 2 Sacred Heart Catholic Church at the Chapel 11:00 A.M.
