

Mike will be especially remembered for his love of family and friends and for his distinguished career as a NASA Systems Engineer. He is survived by his wife, Linda Irene Baker, whom he met in 1983 and by her children, Craig Baker and Courtney Kenney. His loving family members include his mother, Marion, his brother, James Roberto and wife Jane, his nephews Andrew and Timothy Roberto and his grand-nieces, Kylie and Hannah.
Born February 14, 1945, in Portland, Maine, to Michael and Marion Roberto, he attended the University of Maine where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1967 and where he was elected to Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society) and Eta Kappa Nu (Electrical Engineering Honor Society). He later received an Electrical Engineering Master of Science from the University of Maryland. Mike served in the military in a science and engineering position at an Army Research Center. With 39 years as a Systems Engineer at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, he contributed to NASA missions and projects, most notably the 2006 Nobel Prize winning Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) satellite. Mike retired in 2006. He received a distinguished service award from NASA.
Mike loved nature and the outdoors. His favorite hobbies were swimming, hiking with friends, camping with Linda, gardening, auto and home maintenance.

A gathering to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at the family’s home at a later time.
