

Raymond Loftin passed on March 16, 2015. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Clyde Loftin and Julia McCohnell and the beloved husband of Brenda August whom he was with for 47 years. He is survived by siblings Josephine Harris-Overby, Marie McCohnell, Joan McCohnell, William McCohnell, Jr., Paul McCohnell, Phillip McCohnell, Tony Loftin, Michael Loftin, and Annette Crain. He is also survived by an uncle, Paul Smith, sisters-in-law, Dionne August Jackson and Chris McCohnell, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is a graduate of Pepperdine University, Los Angeles/Malibu, California, where he received a Masters Degree in Urban Planning and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Retired from the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census in Washington DC and Los Angeles, California, he also served as the Director of Administrative Services, Maryland State Department of Human Resources, Baltimore, Maryland; Executive Director of Foothill Community Services, Pasadena, California; and Planning Director for the City of Los Angeles Bicentennial.
He was a 22 year member of the City of Bowie Advisory Planning Board; Peer Review Committee member for the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland, and Instructor for AARP Safe Driving Program.
