Richard Patrick Collins

At the age of 53, Richard Patrick Collins, a resident of Huntington Beach, CA, formerly of Bowie, MD, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014. A 1978 Bowie High School graduate, Rich was most proud of his daughter, grandson, and his service in the U.S. Air Force.

He was born Dec. 1, 1960, to the late Donald J. and Jo Alice Collins and is also preceded in death by his sister Donna Collins. He is survived by his mother by marriage, Joy Collins of Bowie, MD; sister Caren Collins of Silver Spring, MD; daughter Tessa Collins and grandson Thomas Hudson of Bury St Edmunds, England. He is also survived by his aunt Jeanne Powell; first cousins Cindy Foster, Jim Foster, Pat Cooley, Barbara DeHaut, Pam Mest, Timm Powell; and a special friend Emily Murdoch.

An avid music lover and Redskins fan, Rich (a.k.a. Rooster) had a contagious laugh and warm smile that made everyone he met an instant friend. Rich was loved by many near and far and will be remembered in a ceremony on August 18 beginning with visitation from 9 am to 11 am, followed immediately by a funeral service at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home at 16000 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD. Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 13801 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, MD.
