

Tony Tucker, 59, of Glenn Dale, Maryland, passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of February 9th, 2025, after a six-year courageous battle with an aggressive form of cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born on June 22nd, 1965 to Walter and Willease S. Tucker of the District of Columbia. He had one brother, Walter Lee Tucker, all of whom preceded him in death. He was the youngest of two children.
As a child, Tony's day started very early by working for his father's industrial company before going off to school. He demonstrated great potential in high school football and was considered for college athletics. However, his dream was to open an auto-mechanic shop upon completing job corp training. During this time, Tony had a change of heart and learned that plumbing was a necessary skill that better provided for his autonomy. He began an apprenticeship under the direct guidance of the owner of Spartan Plumbing. He completed many classes and certifications to become a devoted employee for Spartan Plumbing for over a decade before starting his own business. Tony earned a reputation for being reliable and highly skilled which led to lifelong business partnerships.
Tony leaves to cherish his wife, Kimberly B.Tucker and a blended family of five children: Tony J. Tucker Jr (Justine Tucker); Brittanie J. Bell; Christopher L. Tucker; Cameron D. Tucker (Ke'la Tucker) and BreAna J. Bell (fiance'-Kennedy F. Dunn); two aunts, Emma Gant; Genora Miles. Grandchildren; Bryce J. Ivy, Isaiah J. Tucker, Titan Tucker, and Elijah Tucker. He had a lifelong friend John Samelson and a strong bond with his cousin Judy (Jessie) Usher. Tony had a host of nieces and nephews.
Tony was a mentor not only to his sons and daughters but to many children throughout the Bowie Community. He coached children's football to create a solid foundation of character and skilled athleticism within his players. Tony led his football team to championships with a few of his players being selected to the pros. He had many hobbies and pass times which included playing pool, ping-pong, spades, dominos, baccarat, cookouts, and family gatherings.
Tony was kind, generous, and a great listener. He was a reliable father who gave all to his family. Tony had strong beliefs and would give good advice regardless of a family member's opinions. He knew the word and would quote scripture to prove a point. Tony showed support throughout family conflict and he sought to see the good in everything. He carved a place in the hearts of all who knew him. During his final days in hospice, Tony's words were few. However, on two occasions, he yelled, "rejoice". Letting us know that his time was near.
Tony lived a full and fruitful life.
A visitation for Tony will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715.
A visitation at church will occur Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Greater Mount Nebo AME Church, 1001 Old Mitchellville Rd., Bowie, MD 20716.
His funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Greater Mount Nebo AME Church, 1001 Old Mitchellville Rd,, Bowie, MD 20716.
He will be interment on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 2:30 PM in the Crownsville Veteran Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise beach road, Crownsville, MD 21032.
