Zara was a sophisticated lady that took very good care of herself, her husband, her children, her extended family, and people around her. She supported her family during a time when it was hard for African American families in the military. She made every house into her home. She invited you in, and made you feel welcomed. Once in her presence, you wouldn’t want to leave.
Zara helped people all around her for different occasions and social events.
She was an excellent cook that could throw a healthy meal together in minutes. She loved painting, had a keen eye, and steady hands. Her creative side lives on in her daughter (Zina Casey) and granddaughter (Alicia Casey). Zara and her husband loved to travel. Their favorite places to visit were Vegas and Disney. There wasn’t a year that went by that she didn’t attend the Hampton Jazz Festival with her husband. She was a big proponent of education; it was important to ensure her children were educated as she prepared her children for the world ahead of them. Zara always taught the importance of doing the right thing and being kind to others.
Zara loved celebrating every holiday by decorating her home for that holiday, Christmas being her favorite. She celebrated everyone’s birthday; by sending you happy birthday wishes and letting you know she was thinking about you on your birthday.
Zara was preceded in death by her husband, Olin W. Casey, Sr., her parents Jessie M. and Edna Moore, her sister Dwanda Lee Moore Ballard and her brother Leonard Ballard.
Zara leaves to cherish her memory, her son Olin W. Casey, Jr. (Tracey) of Vancouver, WA, daughter Zina M. Casey (Joel) of Sykesville, MD, her brother, Jessie Moore, Jr. of Washington, DC, her sister Crystal F. Moore of Maryland, four grandchildren Alycia B. Casey, Devon A. Casey, Jacob M. Casey and Xavier M. Casey and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
