

John William Evans, a long-time resident of East Aurora, NY, died peacefully on December 27, 2024. He was 95.
John was born to John H. and Elizabeth Ryan on January 30, 1929 in Buffalo, NY. He grew up with his brother, Tom, in Kenmore, NY, and spent the summers of his youth in East Aurora. After graduating Kenmore Senior High School, John worked for his father as an electrician before being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in Germany shortly after WWII. Following his stint in the Army, John met and wed Margaret (nee Shatford) and worked for the Bell System for over 30 years. John’s passions included car collecting, RVing, and membership in the Masons.
John’s favorite hobby was collecting and restoring antique cars. In particular, he was very fond of Oldsmobiles and Studebakers. He was usually found tinkering with his 1973 GMC motorhome that he and Margaret thoroughly enjoyed traveling in across the country for swap meets, family visits, and warmer temperatures. John was also a proud, active member of the Masons for over 60 years.
John was predeceased by his wife Margaret and his brother Tom.
He is survived by his children Amy Evans and Morgan (Jessica) Evans; grandchildren Sarah Evans and Nicole (Matthew) Hordeski; great grandchildren Hunter, Gavin, and Rowan Hordeski.
